weekend brunch

Posted in :: delicious :: by gemini522 on November 7, 2010

We were planning to have fish n’ chips @ Fish Face, Darlinghurst. The place was recommended by Terry Durack in Sydney Magazine (Oct. Issue) amongst ‘the 50 things every Sydney food lover should try’. Sadly, it is not open for lunch. The week-long wet weather was another pissing-off thing. So we decided to sit down quickly in a cafe called ‘Recess’, opposite where we parked the car.

Blueberries are in season now. This was my first time to have the fruit in a smoothie version. And again, my favourite breakfast menu item: egg benedict! They do not serve it with bone ham. So I went for smoked salmon. yum~

Sugar Hit

Today is the day for me to be fully loaded with sweet treats!

Sprüngli House Tin – my personal order from Michael’s trip to the home office last week. Two years after the big boss brought us the nice tin of assorted Sprüngli praline as a treat, I can never forget about it every single night. Though Sprüngli and Lindt are actually brothers!

Koko Black’s chocolate & orange – my personal order from Sarah’s weekend trip back to Melbourne (thanks Sarah!). Pure dark chocolate over candied orange segments: this goodie is so yummm!!!

Koko Black’s gift box chocolate selection – another treat from heavenly nice Sarah!!! They look too good to be eaten.

Shelf life for those fresh chocolates are rather short. So I have no excuses!!! hahaha~

Posted in :: delicious :: by gemini522 on September 20, 2010

We love rice!

Posted in :: delicious :: by gemini522 on August 21, 2010

It was Qi Xi (the Double Seventh Festival) last Monday. You call it the Chinese Valentine’s Day if you want. We both forgot about the lunar calendar until reminded by a friend. So I kept my promise of making onigiri with mayonnaised tuna. In Japan, people love rice so much that they see it as a comfort food.

David made steamed rice with dry sausage for dinner tonight. Yummy~! The rice was so fragranced from the lard and sweet sauce of the sausages. I think it is a typical Cantonese dish, which from memory I had not tried before.

Victor Churchill

OISHI~!

M&M

Posted in :: delicious :: by gemini522 on June 7, 2010

I never like anything ordinary and always look out for fun, even when it comes to food.

Those US edition M&M’s: almond and peanut butter are one of my favourites. On a boring Monday arvo, I even discovered the special editions coming from the US: coconut and strawberried peanut butter. They inevitably ended up in my pocket immediately. In fact, M&M has linked up with blockbuster movies to make limited editions. And last summer it was with the release of Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen.

What? Strawberried peanut butter?! Yeah, you read it right. This is to tie with the aliens in the movie that are two kinds of robots in one. They also come in seven different wrappers and the one I got is The Twins – Pack 7 of 7. On the package it reads ‘at least we are not identical’.

Being a gemini, I am not afraid of experimenting anything new, even the name of the flavour sounds a bit dubious. Hmmm, it might be peanut butter and jelly? When I carefully cut one in half, you can see inside it is still the old good peanut butter M&M but with a strawberry flavoured milk chocolate and hard candy shell.

As I eat my toasts with half peanut butter and half strawberry jam everyday, I find this new limited flavour acceptable and fun despite the fact that many M&M fans think it sounds and looks gross.

Some nibbles for today

Enjoyed some nice cheese and crackers at the Qantas Lounge while waiting for my flight last Friday night. Just cannot resist to get some more for today. Well, you know, it is Monday.
